About the Project
I designed and developed a website for Bar Aventin – an Ostrava-based shisha bar specializing in cocktails, teas, hookahs, and Svijany draft beer. The goal was to create a fast and visually engaging site that captures the bar’s atmosphere.
Key Features
- Age Verification: Mandatory 18+ check upon entering the site.
- Dark / Light Mode: Color scheme toggle with localStorage persistence.
- Blog / Highlights: Section powered by Astro Content Collections from Markdown files.
- Interactive Map: Embedded map with the exact venue address.
- Social Media: Links to Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
Design
The site uses a bold visual identity built around deep purple and red gradients. Red runs through all interactive elements. The layout is fully responsive across all screen sizes.
Technologies
- Framework: Astro – static output for maximum performance
- Styling: Scoped CSS in Astro components, CSS custom properties
- JavaScript: Vanilla JS for interactive elements (age gate, dark mode)
- Content: Astro Content Collections for Markdown-based article management
- Deployment: Static hosting
